Land-based Learning - Newegati
In Esgenoôpetitj, we have created a land-based learning space and have held a number of events with youth and elders. Learning with the land creates a sense of belonging. Our dream is to have a year-round land-based centre, where our teachings are considered on par with University credits.
"The week of October, moose-brain tanning was held at the Wolastoq traditional grounds with our invited guest facilitator, Melaw Nakehk’o of Yellowknife NWT. She is a lead instructor on the cultural programs in her traditional homelands, and she is re-educating indigenous communities in the traditions on smoked moose hide tanning across the country. "
